Angela Nelson

Research Assistant (Clinical Functional Renal)

About Me

I am a Research Associate in the Renal Diagnostics Division of the MORL. My primary focus is functional testing of the alternative pathway of the complement system in renal disease. Currently I analyze levels of C3, C4, and CH50 using the Optilite analyzer, C3b deposition via immunocytochemistry, Factor D via ELISA, and ADAMTS-13 Activity via FRET assay. My research interests include Factor D as a secondary driver of complement dysregulation in end stage renal disease, as well as the production and processing of Factor D in different clinical cohorts. In addition to my wet bench work, I assist the Equipment Team with maintaining and validating our clinical laboratory equipment, and work with the entire renal team to discuss each patient's clinical results at our weekly multidisciplinary team meeting.
